EMBA acquires McKinley
EMBA has recently acquired all assets of McKinley Machinery, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The McKinley product line is in the forefront regarding high quality and technically
advanced converting solutions. There are currently 330 McKinley machines in the market,
mainly in North America. The product line includes a full range of rotary die cutters, flexo
folder gluers and printing machines. The sizes range from mini machines (24”) to jumbo
machines (88”). Besides conventional open/closed architecture machines the product line
includes machines with high board line technology (HBL) for fast order changes. The first
HBL machine was built in 1997 and since then several machines have been manufactured
with this technology.
Due to the acquisition, EMBA will be able to offer box makers a wider product range
including jumbo flexo folder gluers and rotary die cutters with HBL technology. This
will enable EMBA to be a complete supplier of converting equipment to the corrugated
industry worldwide. The acquisition will be a good complement to the present machine
assortment offered by EMBA.
EMBA will restart the design and manufacturing of McKinley machines in the USA.
The search for a larger facility has commenced. We are also setting up a service center in
the USA to support McKinley machine owners. We will provide the customers spare parts
and technical service. Experienced and knowledgeable engineers and service technicians
are being recruited. We will analyze the machine population, spare parts sales, and call
history to determine which spare parts we should carry in stock. We will then establish
inventory to provide good service to our customers.
